These verses from Psalm 43 have stuck out to me, as much as they have struck me with the keen reminder that Epiphany isn’t the beginning of the end, it’s the end of the God-with-us beginning.
Far too many throw away words, or worry on New Years resolutions. Better in my book, to rest the big stuff in God’s hands – which in practice means putting God before the grind of addressing that big stuff – and not sweating the small stuff.
As sure as He stepped in to liberate Israel, bless David, and in Jesus Christ, save us: He will vindicate us.
‘Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause
against an ungodly people,
from the deceitful and unjust man
deliver me! […]
Send out your light and your truth;
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy hill
and to your dwelling! […]
(- Psalm 43, ESV)
