i remember asking about victory gardens and being told that Americans spending money is better for the war than saving money so they weren’t encouraged anymore.
That’s interesting. I would have thought self-sustainability was a good thing for the war effort. I kind of get why it might not have been, people-taxes-government revenue. Perhaps, as a campaign, it was too successful? Might have to do some more digging on that subject to find out why.
